Traceability for Small- and Micro-Scale Businesses

Markets are increasingly demanding that suppliers have a traceability system
in place, especially for food products. However, the benefits of being able
to trace goods are not limited to food products. Unfortunately, for small-
and micro-scale businesses, off-the-shelf traceability systems are typically
too costly in both time and money.

The objective of this workshop is to provide an overview of the tools and
systems available to small- and micro-scale businesses. Participants will
learn how to identify what information is important to record.

 

There will also be presentations on scale-appropriate traceability systems
and the tools that can be used in support of the systems. Examples of
digital tools etc. will be on display and participants will have the
opportunity to discuss their use.

Les marchés exigent progressivement que les fournisseurs aient un système de
traçabilité en place, en particulier pour les produits alimentaires.
Toutefois, les avantages d'être en mesure de retracer les biens ne sont pas
limités aux produits alimentaires. Malheureusement, les systèmes de
traçabilité génériques sont généralement trop coûteux en matière de temps et
d’argent pour les petites entreprises. 

 

L'objectif de cet atelier est de fournir une vue d'ensemble des outils et
des systèmes disponibles pour les entreprises à petite et à micro échelle.
Les participants pourront reconnaître quelles informations doivent être
enregistrées. 

 

Il y aura également des présentations sur les systèmes de traçabilité
adaptée aux opérations à petite et micro échelle et sur les outils qui
peuvent être utilisés afin d'appuyer les systèmes. Des exemples d'outils
numériques, etc.. seront exhibés et les participants auront l'occasion de
discuter de leurs utilisations.
