SUMMER CAMP STAFF 2013

Position: Summer Camp Staff  - Environmental Education
Organization: Adventure Earth Center http://www.earthed.ns.ca/
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

At the Adventure Earth Center summer programs we teach young people of varying ages (from 7-15 year olds), with a unique style of hands-on and experiential learning to appreciate and understand the natural environment. 

We are looking for staff with experience working with children and with a passion for education and environmental issues. We have a number of leadership job opportunities available throughout the summer:

Summer Day-camps (running from June through August)

For campers from 7-9 years old or 10-12 years old. A step away from the ordinary! Each camp has its own unique theme and storyline with a focus on fun, adventure and environmental learning. Become a modern day Pirate in search of treasure or a Nature Detective trying to uncover unsolved mysteries in Fleming Park. Exciting adventures and challenges await campers on the trails in Fleming Park, along the sea shore and around the Frog Pond.

Residential Camps:

Sunship Earth Camp (running from late July to early August)

An incredible ecological adventure camp for young people ages 10-12 that has been running for over 20 years. During this week-long overnight camp, the campers learn about the lessons that are taught to us by the natural world through hands on learning and theatrical presentations. Activities include canoeing, hiking, exploring/discovering, vision spots (your own special spot in nature), campfires with sing-a-long's and skits, swimming, amazing food and amazing people! Leaders with life-guarding qualifications are highly considered.

LEAD Camp (running early July)

This is a summer adventure about leadership, discovery and making a difference for the earth. For six days, using Camp Mockingee near Windsor as a base camp, campers and leaders will travel through old enchanted forests, learning from each other, and sharing interests and stories around the campfire. Through games, canoeing, group challenges, outdoor experiences and meeting inspirational people, participants learn the skills to make a difference back home. There will be trips to explore environmentally friendly choices, participate in meaningful service to others, and interact with environmental leaders in nearby communities.
