It has been said that all the medicine you need grows in your own back yard.

Join Kim Thompson, Michele Graveline and Shirlie Williamson for a herb walk
to learn about some of the common plants you can use as food and medicine
including dandelion, plantain, eyebright, goldthread and many more.

Dress for the weather. Remember to bring your lunch, a notebook, and
scissors and a basket if you want to collect some plants.

Cost for the workshop is $60.

Please bring a packed lunch with you.

In this one day workshop led by Alex & Selene Cole of Little Foot Yurts,
participants will learn how to set up a traditional style coppice wood
yurt. The group will broaden their understanding of the structure, history,
and cultural background of the yurt – a low impact, sustainable shelter.
The Coles will share stories and a slideshow of their trip to Kyrgyzstan
and showcase Kygyz décor and art. Participants will take a woodland walk
which will introduce local species as a material resource for yurt
construction.

Please note: This workshop is an introduction to yurts in general. We will
not cover yurt construction.

Schedule:
10am-11am Introduction and history and cultural background of yurts
11am-12pm Yurt Raising-Learn how to set up a yurt
12pm-1pm Lunch (bring your own)
1pm-2pm Explore Kyrgyz tradition through the lives of herders and yurt
masters
2pm-3pm Woodland Walk and a look at raw materials
