The Opportunity

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), Canada’s leader in wetland conservation, is looking for a confident, energetic and dedicated professional to join our team.

The Wetland Centre of Excellence Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation and facilitation of DUC’s Wetland Centre of Excellence program in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Responsibilities include working with our Education Specialist in Fredericton, NB to establish 3 Wetland Centres of Excellence in New Brunswick & Nova Scotia, support and grow the Project Webfoot program in Nova Scotia as well as deliver environmental education programming to local schools and community groups.

We are seeking an enthusiastic team player – a self-starter who can work with anyone, is capable of seeing the bigger picture and enjoys thinking out of the box.

Our ideal candidate has at least a year of experience and directly related knowledge. The successful applicant will possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, enjoy a complex, changing environment and be able to manage numerous projects on tight deadlines.

The position will be based at the Greenwing Legacy Centre within the Shubenacadie Wildllife Park in with a secondary office space in Amherst, NS and begins September 8, 2014. This is a 7 month term position. The salary will be $16/ hour and the position will require frequent travel.

Requirements
• Must be graduate of an accredited University or College, preferably in the fields of education or science.
• Must not be over 30 years of age as of September 1, 2014
• Must not have participated in a Science Horizons project previously.
• Basic understanding and ability to explain waterfowl and wetland ecology and biological processes.
• Experience in project management and working with youth.
• Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

The successful candidate will have an affinity to the outdoors, conservation and the world of waterfowl.
