Forest Night Walk with Friends of Redtail Society

Experience the night sounds of the forest.

This is a magical time of the year for those adventurous enough to enter
the woods at twilight, and pick up the aural track of the forest’s hidden
occupants. Owl, woodcock, coyote are but a few of the wise beings working
hard at protecting their young families at this time of year. We will
listen and learn.

*Event date: May 31*. Meet at 7 pm at the winter lodge on MacBeth Road.
There will be a short orientation before heading out for the evening. Hot
drink and snack will be served. Rain or shine. Dress for the occasion. All
are welcome. Suitable for all ages.

Led by Billy MacDonald.

This event is part of our “Talking Forests” education series. Admission is
by donation.

*The Friends of Redtail Society is a grass-roots, non-profit organization
formed in 2006 to pursue a community-based solution to an industrial forest
clear cut that was scheduled to take place in an upland watershed in
western Pictou County. Through the group's actions, a successful
fundraising and awareness campaign was mounted and the Society was able to
purchase the land, becoming both a guardian and student of the forest.
**Through
its "Sheltering Forests" campaign, the Society is engaging community in the
process of reclaiming, re-visioning and restoring its relationship with the
forest. *
