As an environmental start-up, CFI demonstrates how permaculture, organic agriculture, sustainable forestry, sustainable and green infrastructure, and alternative energy can be used to fight climate change and rebuild rural vibrance in the process. The Event and Communications Coordinator will work with the Community Forests International (CFI) team to help share the organization’s work in fostering rural innovation and restorative land use through action.

The position will involve facilitating CFI’s workshops, public events and restoration projects in addition to creating web content, print material and social media updates. The organization is looking for a highly motivated individual capable of thinking outside of the box in a dynamic not-for profit work environment.

Qualifications:
• Must be a full-time student returning to school full-time in the fall
• Experience coordinating events and activities
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Experience with video, print and web-based media
• Experience with environmental work and/or outdoor work
• Background in Science or Environmental studies is an asset

Responsibilities:
• Promote public events, information sessions and media distribution
• Write blog posts, press releases and social media updates
• Assist with project implementation and public events
• Organize public events including preparation, registration, and facilitation
• Support other organizational projects as required
• General Office work and administration

Details:

Wage: $12/hour, full-time
