Fish Habitat Restoration – Ingram River Wilderness

The St. Margaret’s Bay Stewardship Association, an established East Coast environmental organization, is actively looking for a student this summer to lead a three-person crew identifying and documenting fish habitat restoration opportunities and assessing water quality on the Ingram River system. The program is part of a larger multi-year effort by the Association to see established a 20,000 hectare Ingram River Wilderness Area from the Ingram’s mouth at Ingramport up to its headwaters near the Eagle’s Nest Nature Reserve in Hant’s County.

Qualifications:
• Graduate student in environmental studies or biology.
• Familiar with data collection in the field recommended.
• Love of the outdoors and a tolerance for adverse conditions are essential.
• High level of fitness and physical stamina required.
• Applicants could be in or entering graduate school, have finished their current school year by the project start date, and be planning to continue their studies in the fall. Data collected over the summer could complement their grad work.

Program Details:
• The program begins in early June and ends 8 weeks later in early August.
• Work hours: 8 hours/day, 5 days/week.
• Remuneration:
• Fish Habitat Restoration Crew Chief: $20/hour (preferably a grad student)
• Office located in Upper Tantallon
• Equipment provided
