About Us
Red Bear Healing Home is a non-profit society registered with the Province of Nova Scotia (June 23, 2011) that assists people who are experiencing social and/or economic disadvantages in Nova Scotia. Information, referrals, resources and services are provided to help people develop the capacity to sustain themselves and realize their unique potential.
The Seven Sacred Teachings/Laws; The Teachings of the Four Directions; and, The Twelve Teachings of the Sacred Tree guide our work to build respect for all life. Red Bear Healing Home is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and managed by an Executive Director. Over 90% of our work is completed by volunteer labour.

Services
We assist people build their capacity by providing education, inspiration, referrals, support, resources, peer support and free voice mail for people who are economically and socially disadvantaged in Nova Scotia.
Outreach Coordinator
Roles and Responsibilities
The Outreach Coordinator position has the responsibility to assist people who are experiencing poverty. The main duties are to:
Be an ambassador for Red Bear Healing Home
Treat people with respect
Develop and maintain community relationships and networks
Builds a sense of trust in our communities
Reports to Executive Director
Location: Halifax
Education and Other Requirements
A degree in or working towards post-secondary education in sociology, social work, psychology, international development or community college human services worker
Must be between the ages of 18 and 30
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Qualifications
Honest, reliable, patient, kind and friendly
Some experience working in the voluntary sector or with people who are experiencing poverty an asset
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; a good listener
Detail oriented
Motivated/self-starter
Maintain confidentiality
Agree to Red Bear Healing Homes principles and mandate
Knowledge of or interested in learning about services available to people experiencing poverty
Duties
Contact and schedule presence at community hubs, soup and community kitchens, food banks, community events, shelters and other nonprofits for in person sign up for free voice mail, information, resources and referrals
Update database of community service organizations
Provide access to resources, information and provide referrals where necessary
Develop reports
Find funding assistance to sustain program and services
Facilitate evaluation and success of program
Other duties as required
Term: summer 6 weeks/35 hours per week
Remuneration: $11.55
