Position: Solar Development Coordinator
Organization: Natural Forces
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Job Description: Entry level position
Employment: Full time, six-month contract
Dates: February 11th, 2019 start date
General Tasks
Solar site assessments
Determination of potential solar energy resource by way of remote and on-site assessment at facilities and specified lands
Modelling of potential solar resource and project layouts using software suites such as PVSyst, PVWatts, Aurora Solar and Helioscope
Meeting with clients regarding their solar project interest and discussing options relevant to their specific project requirements
Working alongside third party contractors to gather detailed structural, civil, geotechnical & electrical information for proposed project sites
Project design
Determination of most appropriate project components for project optimization (ie: modules, inverters, racking, BOS, etc.) based on project requirements, restrictions & client preferences
Preparation of site plans, single line diagrams, grid interconnection & permit applications relevant to the proposed project
Working with third-party consultants to produce finalized construction drawings
Drafting shading reports, wiring losses, & production forecasts specific to proposed projects
Proposal preparation
Compiling production forecasts, system design details and financial metrics to produce professional proposals on behalf of the company to perspective clients
Procurement of project components
Working with various third-party suppliers to source components for upcoming projects at competitive prices
Managing logistics of component shipments to job sites
Inspection and assessment of project components upon arrival to the site and regularly assessing the available component inventory
Keeping informed on new product offerings that are entering the market and determining if they are appropriate for upcoming projects
Construction management
Working with third-party contractors to ensure systems are installed according to manufacturers installation manuals and to the specified design
Coordinating contractors, clients, and suppliers to ensure projects are completed on schedule
Requirements/asset for the position
University degree or college diploma in science, engineering, technology, construction management, or other relevant fields
Proficiency with technical and/or solar specific software (CAD, PVSyst, PVWatts, Aurora Solar, Helioscope, etc.)
Strong communication skills
Highly organized
Attention to detail
Autonomous work with minimal supervision
