Position: Promotions Manager
Organization: Wolfville Farmers' Market
Location: Wolville, Nova Scotia

Logistics
• One year contract with potential for full time position
• Average of three days on site; 2 days at home office
• 40 hrs/week
• $16/hr

Reporting Structure:
• Report to: Manager
• Additionally: Work with whomever is the lead for a particular project

Summary:

To develop annual Communication and Marketing plans and manage all promotional programs including: events, media/public relation campaigns, social media accounts, e-newsletters and champion programs for all aspects of the Wolfville Farmers’ Market operation. The Promotions Manager will be responsible for providing and managing content including photography, videography, text and graphics for these programs. The Promotions Manager will also provide Vendor training which will help vendors develop the skills to market their own businesses more effectively in the Farmers’ Market environment.

Responsibilities:

Communication/Marketing Planning
• Develop an Annual Communication and Marketing Plan
• Develop and implement programs for influencers, student champions, vendors and community

Sponsorship Program
• Assist in the development of a Sponsorship Program
• Develop materials for Sponsorship Program
• Implement partnership agreements

Event Management
• Annual Event Plan
• Event Development, Planning and Implementation
• Event Promotion

Social Media Management
• Social Media Plan
• Providing/Managing Social Media Content (facebook, instagram, twitter, e-news, youtube channel, My Business accounts, Valley Family Fun, and NS Tourism accounts)
• Analyzing/reporting effectiveness
• Developing a strategy using Google Ads

Media/Public Relations Management
• News Releases
• Media Relations
• Speaking engagements
• Developing messages and opportunities to share the above

Staff/Vendor Training
• Providing training to staff and vendors
• Developing campaigns and programs in partnership with vendors

Community Relations
• Manage fundraising program for Food Bucks Project
• Manage Community Business Booth and Not-for-Profit booth for the Saturday and Wednesday Markets
• Book the music for the Wednesday and Saturday Markets
• Answer questions from community members about Vendors and their products

Assistance/Market Staff Team Participation: 
• Assist with set-ups and/or tear-downs of WFM2Go, Saturday and Wednesday Market as required.
• Know and stay familiar with WFM vision, mission, core values, and strategic plan
• Know and stay familiar with WFM Operations Manual including HR Policies, Protocols
• Actively give feedback and sharing ideas that will help achieve the goals of the Market
• Attend monthly staff meetings

Physical Environment:
• Able to comfortably work in both a physically demanding and fast paced Market-Day environment as well as a focused office environment.
• Able to comfortably lift up to 40 lbs (produce/meat coolers, boxes, tables etc)
• Able to be a calm affable leader in situations with multiple stakeholders requiring attention

Contacts:
• Supervised by Market Manager
• Works with all managers to promote their projects/people

Skills/Experience Needed:
• Two to five years experience in public relations, marketing and/or event management OR a recent graduate of Public Relations, Communications or Marketing Program
• Photography and videography skills for Social Media Purposes
