*Hikers invited to new challenges in NS*

All you have to do is put one foot in front of the other and before you
know it you could earn yourself a cool Hiker Challenge badge. The challenge
has been issued: Hike Nova Scotia invites new and experienced hikers to try
earning its new Cape Chignecto and Annapolis County badges.

“Our Hiker Challenge family of badges is growing with the Cape Chignecto
badge and the Annapolis County badge,” says Janet Barlow, Hike Nova Scotia
Executive Director. “We’re excited about these new partnerships with Nova
Scotia Provincial Parks and Annapolis County. As people flock to the
outdoors in record numbers, these are more goals for them to work toward.”

Featuring Cape Chignecto Provincial Park in Advocate Harbour, to earn the
Cape Chignecto Badge, over the course of a year you must hike the entire
loop, starting from the Red Rocks trailhead around the coastal loop and
back, which totals 53 km. To earn the new Annapolis County badge, choose
five from a list of seven local trails and hike from 11 to 15 km on them
over the course of one year.

The Hiker Challenge is about inspiring, motivating and rewarding trail
users - especially new and novice hikers - to get out on Nova Scotia’s
beautiful trails and start hiking or to hike more. Your reward for
completing each challenge is a badge to show off on clothing or backpacks,
as well as being listed on the Honour Roll. There are several badges to
earn across the province as part of the Hiker Challenge. Once you’ve
completed a challenge, apply for the badge on the Hike NS website. Badges
vary in cost from free to $5 for Hike NS paid members or $7.50 for
nonmembers.

Each season there is a prize draw including everyone who has earned a badge
in the last three months. Prizes are gift cards generously provided by The
Trail Shop. Learn more about the Hiker Challenge at
