Hello everyone,

Monday, October 27 is election day. Polls will be open from 10:00 am to 8:00
pm across the city.

· The Alliance is a partner organization with the Housing Answer,
asking city council candidates to pledge to increase financial support for
the city’s Ten Year Housing and Homelessness Plan by $2 million per year,
ramping up to $8 million per year by 2018. You can find more information
here <http://www.housinganswer.ca/about-housing-answer/> – and a list of
candidates who have pledged support here
<http://www.housinganswer.ca/housing-answer-supporters/> .

· There is still time for YOU to pledge your support for the Housing
Answer, too! While Monday is election day, the important work of budget and
priority setting will continue on Tuesday. Adding your name will help ensure
that our new City Council recognizes that we value investments in housing
and homelessness. Click on the link here <http://www.housinganswer.ca/> .

· An additional blog post, with links to media coverage of housing
and homelessness in this election, is available here
<http://endhomelessnessottawa.ca/city-of-ottawa-votes-2014-a-focus-on-housin
g-and-homelessness/> .

Additional information on ensuring that all citizens – regardless of their
housing status – are able to vote, was shared with the listserv on October
1. Please let me know if you’d like to receive that information again.

The City for All Women Initiative (CAWI), through Making Votes Count
<http://www.makingvotescount.ca/> has identified numerous helpful resources
below (links to candidates’ profiles, online debates, candidate
questionnaires, etc.).

We’re fortunate to have the opportunity to vote. Let’s not miss this
opportunity.

Best,

Mike.
