25hr/week - $11.00/hr
Hours may increase during the peak of market season (July & August)

The St. Andrews Farmers’ Market has been a Thursday morning outdoor community hub for 43 years! It’s a place where New Brunswick Artisans, Local Food Entrepreneurs and Farmers share their best with the wider Charlotte County Community.

The Market is open every Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. rain or shine from late May to late September. The St. Andrews Farmers’ Market Association may host several markets outside the regular market season, i.e. Indulge Festival in October & the Christmas Market etc.

This position provides managerial support to various constituencies within the Association and requires someone with a proactive and positive attitude and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

The Manager is the first point of contact for our members, prospective members, community leaders and our Board.

Position Details:

The Manager will manage all aspects of on- and off-site Market operations including:
• The opening and closing of the market which includes: Booking of vendors, vendor placement, booking of musicians & community groups, posting signage prior to and day of market.
• Recruiting, supervising and coordinating Market volunteers.
• Conduct vendor registration. Submit vendor applications to the Board of Directors.
• Provide general assistance to community representatives and Market patrons and maintaining good relations with town staff, vendors and the public.
• Ensuring that the Market and Town rules are being followed by all.
• Correspond with vendors and some minor bookkeeping.
• Identifying Market growth and promotion opportunities and promoting the Market through social media, the Market website, a Market Newsletter, and direct community outreach. Responsible for all forms of advertising. (Collaborating with the Treasurer)
• Attending market committee meetings, board meetings and assisting with other duties as necessary and as time allows.

Qualifications:
• The Manager must possess a high degree of initiative and exercise discretion when handling details of a confidential and critical nature.
• Community outreach and marketing experience are assets.
• Motivated to improve current working practices and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with customer service, event planning, management and working in busy environments.
• Ability to work well in a team with people from different backgrounds and with diverse personalities.
• Adaptable, creative and willing to learn.
• Dependable and punctual with good time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to creatively and thoughtfully solve problems in a diplomatic and fair fashion.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and access to the internet and social media is critical.

The Market Manager will report to the President and/or the Vice President of the St. Andrews Farmers’ Market Association Board of Directors.
