Position: Assistant Outreach Coordinator:
Type: summer job / summer student position
Organization: Nova Scotia Public Interest Research Group
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

8-week Term Position

Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Connect with community organizations to identify community needs and partnership opportunities
• Assist with developing programming opportunities for Project (RE)Construct, Windpool Commoning and future events
• Provide administrative support as needed to “Project (RE)Construct”, “Windpool Commoning” and “Truth and Reconciliation Café” Campaigns
• Aid in development of Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement Strategy
• Related tasks as determined by NSPIRG upon consultation with employee

Skills and Assets
• General knowledge of social justice-oriented organizations within Nova Scotia
• Experience running or assisting with event management/implementation (paid or volunteer)
• Previous management or volunteer coordination experience considered an asset
• Passion for creating space for marginalized people and groups
• Desire to learn about program development within the non-profit sector

Rate of Pay: $660 bi-weekly, approximate hours 20-30 per week. Flexibility available.

(c) intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;

(d) be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program;

(e) be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;

(f) is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations

* International students are not eligible.
